My Sony NWZ-S515 is very quick changing between tracks, but when it comes to seeking it’s very slow and probably takes up a lot of battery.
I listen to the LugRadio and Stephen Fry’s podcasts and they can be quite long. I found a convenient tool in Ubuntu that splits up a long MP3 file into time chunks you can specify. From the command line:
sudo apt-get install mp3splt mp3splt -t 5.00 fry-podcast-episodes-04.mp3
The example above would split the MP3 into 5 minute chunks, so they can be navigated easily.
