Red Leicester USB Flash Drive

September 9th, 2006

As I ticked the “please send me information by post” box when signing up to UCAS, I have been getting more post than usual from universities trying to attract my attention. There have been a few “wacky” letters (that go straight into the bin partially unopened) but today the De Montfort University of Leicester came up trumps by sending me a 128MB flash memory drive.

Preloaded onto the little red widget was a cartoon Flash movie that opened up fine under Ubuntu using WINE, but to tell the truth there wasn’t much point; it was a bit childish. I think I might grab one of those portable web servers to put onto it instead. But anyway, thank you De Montfort University!

Oh–and sorry about the lame title joke. No, it’s not made out of cheese.
