Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview is available to download now. If you’re a developer, you might want to consider installing it, but otherwise steer clear as things need more polish, not to mention you can’t run IE 6 at the same time. Even then, you’d be a fool to start testing your site with it as Microsoft will no doubt make many more changes before the official upgrade is released.
With the ever looming 7 release you have to think: what will this mean for Firefox? A year-old C|NET article came to the conclusion that the arrival of a tabbed Internet Explorer would squash Firefox flat. But Firefox has come a long way since then, in fact it’s leaving IE trailing in the dust with features such as native SVG support. There’s more to Firefox nowadays than the tabs you might say.
With the release of 7 no doubt Firefox will lose some of its appeal, but I for one don’t want another fiasco when 7 is an old bit of crumpet and everyone is crying out for 8; sticking with community supported Firefox is a far safer bet. Oh and I don’t want to live in a world where you have to use a Microsoft product to check your online bank details…wait a minute…
Got home so I could try things out. I didn’t want to mess up IE 6 so followed these instructions:
Cheers to dcjoedog off Digg for that tip. Right now, some screenshots!

Did you know Konqueror had native SVG support before Firefox?
