Saving Ram Streams with Linux

February 26th, 2006

Went on a shareware bender trying to save streaming .ram files on Windows, proved shockingly easy on Linux–Ubuntu to be specific.

Install mplayer
Go into home directory
Plonk this command in:

mplayer -playlist http://www.example.com/example.ram -ao pcm:waveheader pcm:file=example.wav -vc dummy -vo null

Learning Lines

February 24th, 2006

Sparse posts I guess. I’m learning lines! And I can’t stop talking in verse!

Echoing down the corridor
Feeling the highs and lows,
I really want to be at the place
Where noone else goes–
In an icy forest
The cracking frozen brook–
I’m forever learning the lines
To this neverending book.

make && make install

I hate it when people moan about Linux:
“Compiling? I just want point-and-clicks.”
So I tell them to remember
If they get into a fix
“Your binary will be tailored to your i386.”
