2005

January 1st, 2006

Some films I remember fondly: Pride and Prejudice, Closer, Million Dollar Baby, The Aviator (must review that one day) House of the Flying Daggers and Garden State. On retrospect, even though I really liked Million Dollar Baby, I think The Aviator should have got the Oscars. Time has a tendancy to add clarity, looking back on my writing, I know that more than ever.

I’ve continued being a Happy Slacker with a brief look at Debian. I think I’ll remain a Slacker for years to come. Although if I had to bet which distro breaks into the desktop market properly, I’d bet on Ubuntu. Hardware for me has also changed since I made that first post. Then I was typing it up on a 450mhz Pentium 3 over 56kbps, now I’m an International Business Man surfing the Internet on a wireless broadband connection.

This year has brought the biggest contrast of relationships since a long time. I moved away from my old school, and from many people I know and have got acquainted with. Some relationships have changed considerably, some have not changed at all. We’re really moving on all the time, although I do get the sense of being more withdrawn than usual. However I’m always putting my time to use and always have in my mind of who I want to be and how I’m going to get there. Though who I want to be sometimes differs, leaving people with what I find very amusing segments of who they think I am.

So even though I may seem holed up in my hermitage, with my only method of communication through the Internet, don’t think I’ve given up. Looking at this last year I think I’m well on track.

Happy new year.

Kindest regards,
Alex (aboard the Discovery, here and Beyond the Infinite)

I definitely agree with time adding clarity. Now, if only time weren’t so precious, and easily wasted away. I think, one of the greatest roads to success (unless you chance upon in by luck), really is to just keep the vision of who you want to be clear. It’s great to know that people actually do have some idea, although everchanging, and perfected, as to who they want to be.

Nice photo by the way; reminds me of the cone in a speaker.

It seems like Garden State came out so long ago… wow. And the Aviator? Dang, this year has gone by fast in a slow way, which is odd, but true me thinks. Have a Happy New Year!

Still a happy slacker, eh? I guess then I’ll have to make it my duty to get you to change to Ubuntu sometime during these next 12 months. :D

Cheers mate, wish you a prosperous new year.
