Get it? James Blond–as in the hair colour? Ergh, I’m sure you’ve actually read at least one other news item that shares the same title, for all the originality I have. If you haven’t great–I made it up you know!
If you didn’t know Daniel Craig was announced as the next actor to play the suave secret agent “James Bond” in the next film “Casino Royale”.
You might remember him from such films as Layer Cake and Enduring Love, but I don’t because I haven’t seen them. From what I have heard though, Layer Cake is supposed to be a very good film–funnily enough I own a copy of Enduring Love but as of yet haven’t yet watched it.
I found the last Bond film disappointing; forget about suspension of disbelief Die Another Day wanted you to surgically remove your disbelief and burn it. An invisible car?! Craig actually remarked on his dislike of the way the latest Bond films replaced substance for gadgetry. I think people are going to watch Die Another Day in say 30 years time and cringe in the same way my generation cringes at Moonraker.
Most importantly of all is the fact that Craig is blond. I remember thinking (when I was little) that it was pointless me wanting to be James Bond as you’ve got to have black/brown hair. But now there’s hope!

I’d have to say that my absolute favorite James Bond actor would be Sean Conrey.

I tried to watch Layer Cake, and with all the good will on Earth, I fell asleep before the end, so I can’t tell you how good or bad it is.
But I can certainly see why Daniel Craig was chosen. He has an intensity and an aura not many actors seem to have. I was never a fan of Brosnan and I hope Craig’s darker version of Bond lives up to expectations!

I thought Clive Owen would get it to be honest.
I’ll have to rent out Layer Cake or something.
I used to like Roger Moore, but Sean Connery has to be the best. Favourite Bond film? Goldfinger, with Goldeneye coming second.

[…] Though I liked Brosnan Daniel Craig, the new blond Bond really helped to reinvigorate the character. His Halle Berry-style exit from the water shows a physique that leaves little doubt to whether he can manage his own stunts, he lends substance to this with some of the best acting since Timothy Dalton. Even though at times he reminded me of the Terminator, during scenes of dialogue he’s genuinely charming, especially playing opposite Eva Green, who satisfyingly sheds the stereotypical “Bond-girlâ€? image.
