Little By Little

A band called Harvey Danger have released their album “Little By Little” as a free internet download. To grab it click on the Harvey Danger link. However they are clear that for now it will remain an experiment, I suppose if it doesn’t pay off then they won’t be releasing future albums as free downloads.
This is by no means a manifesto. We don’t pretend to be the first band to spin a variation of the shareware distribution model. We love record labels and record stores. We buy lots of CDs and are committed to supporting independent music. We’re not a bunch of fake Marxists. We’re just trying to be smart capitalists so we can sustain our lives as musicians. This is an experiment. We’ll let you know how it goes.
Good for them. Also unlike a lot of free music you can get on the internet, it isn’t crap. This gem was found via /. See what you think, leave a comment, and I’ll email them all out to the band website to show our appreciation.

I am ordering in their CD today, if mum has the time to shed light on her credit card. I downloaded their stuff, as OGGs of course, and I have to say, I am most content with action. Release their album for free, however provide a paypal option and a store filled with band goodies (namely that CD!). Great step in the right direction. Good to see someone take the initiative.

Not a big fan of the /. Have a look at the spamfest going on in the commentry on the Harvey Danger post. Just such a load of junk, and quite frankly, I reckon / could do with a wee bit of a site revamp for usability. That green annoys me.
Ah well.

I’ve never heard of that band, but since I’m up for new music, I’ll check their music out in the next few days. Will tell you how I find it afterwards too.

They could have even changed the design Pascal! Have a look at the code, they went through a big CSS revamp recently, but decided to keep it classical I guess.
I like “Little Round Mirrors”.

I like that song a lot too, along with “Cream and Bastards Rise”. Nice keyboard/piano. I like all their stuff.
