I didn’t want to make a post on this subject, because Harry Potter is meant to be for children, but this Times of India article decidedly made up my mind to do otherwise.
Unfortunately I have only found time to read The Half-Blood Prince rather late at night, when my concentration is starting to wane, and my eyes keep on losing focus causing me to skip lines. Here’s what I got from when this happened on page 60:
He gulped great lungfuls of cold night air and opened his streaming eyes. He felt as though he had just been forced through a very tight rubber tube.
[eyes wander to next bit of dialogue]
‘Are you all right?’ asked Dumbledore, looking down at him solicitously. ‘The sensation does take some getting used to.’
‘I’m fine,’ said Harry […] ‘But I think I might prefer brooms.’
Damn tiredness and that dirty dirty woman for ruining my suspension of disbelief.

I found that bash quote a while ago.
I finished this book yesterday, and I must say it is quite over-rated. Ohh, and also - thought I had miss read this sentence - towards the end of the book there is a bit where the word ’said’ is replaced with ejaculate. For some very strange reason Rowling wrote “blah”, ejaculated Slughorn. I can’t remember what he said exactly, but yeah… strange.
Right now I am reading the second book of five by Ian Irvine - The Well of Echoes series. Fond of it.

This book seems a lot better than those following Azkaban, but I still reckon Philip Pullman’s Dark Materials Trilogy beats them for imagination and just a better, more concise, plot, considering the target audience.

I think I’d prefer to take those two instances lightly and more innocently than any second interpretation, because that just further ruins my opinion of the Harry Potter books, which have plunged quite low lately. But I’ve never been a fan, and after this last book, and all it’s romantic fluff, I don’t think that opinion will change positively much.

A lot of it is fluff really, I’d be a hypocrite if I said that I didn’t enjoy it though. There’s better stuff out there, but it’s easy reading.
I’ve just passed the green lake with the Inferi bit *cough* Lord Of The Rings *cough*
