After 9/11 and the Iraq war everyone was expecting the worst in London, now the worst has come. Turned on the television this morning to the special news reports of multiple explosions all over our capital, concentrated primarily on the tube stations. There was also an explosion on a London Red Bus, a recently released photo shows the top level roof totally missing.
Have been hearing “almost certainly” a lot, “almost certainly” a terrorist attack, “almost certainly” by Al Qaeda. The number of casualties and fatalities still unknown, though there is an unsettling feeling that it could have been a lot worse.
Their main aim seems to cause as much disruption as possible, given the attacks on transport routes. Tony Blair described it as “barbaric”–I would have to agree, especially given the disruption it has caused the G8 meeting. I cannot comprehend the motivation of terrorism, it is so flawed, it’s insane. What are these extremists fighting for? World poverty is a very important issue, they give it no consideration at all. People’s lives are an important issue. How can they follow such flawed logic this far?
I was in London only a few days ago, my Mum was going in tomorrow, so these events are even more personal. Yesterday London was on a high, today it’s on the ultimate low.

I have to agree. It was inevitable, and we all saw it coming, only some of us didn’t know which American ally it would be. It’s rather disturbing seeing the footage that one bomb could blow the entire double decker bus to smithereens. I pray and hope that their will be less casualties than September 11.

Wah ? Of course there’ll be less casualties, 9/11 was a huge terrorist attack. This is on a much smaller scale.

Maybe the news in Australia wasn’t as accurate as what we were getting live.
Anyways, no-where near as bad as 9/11. More symbolic as it could actually happen to us, even worse when the terrorists were our own people.
