Green

Green Tea, mmm

I wouldn’t say it is my favourite colour to wear, I would even go so far to say I don’t own any green clothes, but nonetheless I like the colour green. Incidentally it features a big part in my life. For many years I have considered myself as a milk - no sugar - Tetley man, avoiding herbal nonsense that I should imagine tastes comparable to the water leaking out of my garden’s compost heap. However on a sudden spurt of spontaneity I decided to try “green tea”, not necessarily herbal, but proper tea all the same. The tannins were bitter, the taste was unusual sans-milk, I liked it. Now whenever faced with making other people tea, I revolt at the sight of brown, it should be green.

Money plant / tree

This brings me to my next green item. My Money Plant. Or Tree, I don’t know, all I can remember at this point is that it contains the word “money” in it. This is the first thing I have kept that is flourishing. I am usually used to efforts at keeping green live things failing; they wither, turn brown and die. But not this succulent. I water it now and again and it keeps growing. It sits on my window sill growing next to me while I’m on the computer. It’s a good omen, something with “Money” in the name growing. I will try and keep it alive.

If you’re thinking I have a lot of time on my hands, it’s because I make the time. Remember; the sky’s the limit, as is your time. Onto my third green thing. Envy. This plays a part in my life too. We shouldn’t be, I know, but it’s inevitable that we will eventually all find ourselves in the situation where we covet another’s possessions or feelings. This is one green thing I don’t like.
