Those long nights at a popular booking agent have paid off; I have just bought a laptop. An IBM Thinkpad R51 model name 1829R6G. From the start I was clear in wanting an IBM, it’s built like a tank and hear has great Linux compatibility.
Admittedly they are expensive, you don’t get as much bang for your buck as with a Vaio or a Toshiba, but it has all the features I need. So I wont be playing Far Cry, but at least I don’t have to put up with designing on a wide aspect ratio screen.
Oh, and I hate VAT.
